What is the Research Portal?
The Research Portal can be found at https://research.genomicsengland.co.uk/.
We created the Research Portal to provide a central location for GeCIP members to track their applications and data access status and view their account details, for domain leads to manage applications, for institutions to verify the affiliation of their GeCIP members, and as the new location for the Research Registry.
Previously, review of applications by domain leads and verification of GeCIP members' affiliations were coordinated via email, which took longer and meant it wasn't always clear to applicants what stage of the process they were in. The Research Registry was housed within the Research Environment and reviews were also coordinated manually.
These processes can now be directly managed and viewed through the portal, which should make applying to join GeCIP and registering projects a quicker and clearer process.
The Research Registry is now part of the Research Portal rather than held within the Research Environment. This should make it more accessible than before: GeCIP members do not have to have access to the data before viewing the full details of the registry, and members of the public, including participants, are able to view some details of projects, such as titles and lay summaries.
The Registry can now be accessed in a simple browse view, or using the simple or advanced search. Researchers can tag their projects with keywords, genes and diseases.
How do I log in?
You can do this in the Portal Sign in page. All GeCIP members should have received an email with their login details in early August 2020. For those that already have access to the Research Environment, the login details are the same as to log into the RE.
If you cannot remember your password, you can reset it here.
If you still have trouble logging in, please contact the Service Desk by raising a ticket or sending them an email, and we will get it fixed for you. Please include "Research Portal" in the subject line.
How do I use the Portal?
We have various help pages to help GeCIP members, domain leads, institution membership secretaries and Discovery Forum members use the portal. Please note most help pages will only be visible after you have logged in.
